You may have noticed a recent color change in the water of the lake from murky brown (iron) to green. Our lake health consultant indicates there is an algae bloom in the lake, but initial readings were unclear whether it is toxic or not. As we investigate with further testing, we are advising everyone to stay out of the water.
Advisory: Please do not swim in the lake at this time - no people or pets should be in the water until further notice.
We will update you with more information as soon as it is available. We have placed a new flag on the homepage of our website at SylviaLakeCC.org, so you can check the status.
Update 7/29/23: Toxic producing algae is present in the lake, but it is not certain whether or not it is producing toxins at this time. It may resolve on it's own, or we will arrange for a treatment. Please continue to keep your family and pets safe by staying out of the water until further notice.
